Strange fruit

I've eaten fresh lychees, fresh jackfruit, star fruit, atis (cherimoya), and tamarind -- although not on a routine basis, to be sure. Now I'm eating a pomegranate for the first time. I've been digging out the seeds with a fork one by one -- guess I should have Googled for the proper technique before slicing the thing open.

I've had lychee (not really fresh, but either in jellies or cut up in bubble teas) and loved it, starfruit was good, and I LOVE pomegranate. For the latter, I don't know if I've ever learned a "right way" to eat it, but generally after forcing my way into the rind initially, I just kept tearing through it and picking the seeds out by hand.

*drools* Now I want one.

As [livejournal.com profile] purrzah said, I don't think there's a wrong way to eat a pomegranate, unless you bite into it like an apple. I found starfruit to be a bit bland, but not as bland as horned melon. I enjoy canned jackfruit, so I suspect that the fresh stuff is just as good. Tamarind doesn't do much for me, but I may not have gotten a good one.

lychees are yummy!

i'm not a huge fan of pomegranates - although the seeds work well on fruit salad.
