I'm having a hard time simultaneously holding in my mind the four or five tasks I'm working on today.

My brain needs more RAM.

Wow. It's a good day when I can manage three. (Usually I can only juggle two things at a time, without dropping any one of them.)

I find when I get to that many tasks, I just start thrashing and nothing gets done except my stress level rising.

(also, hi! Sorry I never responded to your comments before...I meant to but things have been busy)

My own maximum is up to five tasks that I can work on simultaniously. More than that, and I get too frazzled to even function... I completely shut down... which they found really interesting at work, last week. At least the vp understood my predicament and got me a helper for a couple of hours, by sending over a T.A. from the office to field ASAP requests for copies. During my monitoring hour, I was actually allowed to sit back and relax with a cup of herbal tea, while making sure the kids weren't getting into trouble.

I love my job, and the co-workers are incredibly kind.

I hope things improve for the better, for you, too.

To be fair, at any given time two or three of the tasks are of the five-to-ten-minute variety. It's just that those tend to keep popping up, interfering with my half-day-to-all-day tasks (and generally turning the half-day tasks into all-day tasks).

Yes... this is why I'm burnt out at work.

And hi! I was beginning to wonder if you knew we were previously acquainted. :)

That's about the time to start making a list of tasks.
