I volunteered to be an alumni interviewer for my university. For a while I didn't think I would be conducting any interviews this year, but a couple of weeks ago I got an email from a prospective student. Since then, I've received emails from two more hopefuls, plus a phone call last night.

I intend to interview all four kids, and today I decided to check out the prospective students' portion of the school website. Out of curiousity, I looked at the listing of volunteer interviewers in my home state. There were a few names I recognized -- and among them was the name of my peer advisor from my own freshman orientation. Apparently, she's moved to the metro area of my hometown. Meanwhile, I've moved to the same state where she grew up.

The first of the interviews takes place tomorrow morning. I hope I do a good job, put the kid at ease, get good information, and don't turn him off to my university. :)
