roach anecdotes
Jul. 20th, 2004 01:19 pmWhile I was living in student housing at college, one of my friends related an incident in which she had chased a cockroach out of her room. She was trying to smash it, but instead it ran out the door and into the room across the hall... and a minute later, she heard a shriek from that direction. Oops.
In my last year I lived in an apartment with two roommates. We were startled by a roach in our place one evening. One of us dropped a phone book on it, but the carpet was thick and plush, and when we lifted the book the roach kept running. Finally I think we were able to spray it with Raid. We dropped a phone book on it again, turned an empty cardboard box on top of that, and weighted down the box with another book. The box sat there for a couple of days, until I was assigned the task of disposing of the carcass and the stained phone book, which luckily was outdated.
