So last week I was noticing that October is creeping up. September passed quickly. We haven't really had cool temperatures until this week, but now we're getting it, and I had already noticed the shorter daylight hours.

I've had beads on my mind of late. Chris and I went to the regional Renaissance Faire three weekends ago. It was a rainy and muddy day, but we had a good time anyway, and while there I purchased a pair of hair sticks with beads on the ends. They're pretty and they hold up my hair well, but the head pins that hold the beads to the hair sticks are soft and get bent easily. So I started thinking about how I would have made them. Then, the next weekend, I went to a street fair and saw a bunch of stuff that stirred my crafty impulses, too. So I've been webshopping (all you beaders out there, http://www.firemountaingems.com/ if you're not already aware of it). Lo, plain hair sticks are available cheaply on the web, for about a tenth of what I paid for my finished ones.

And now I am eating a nearly-bloody roast beef sandwich from the deli down the street. I'd forgotten how rare Boar's Head roast beef is. Guess I'll get turkey next time. By the way, Edy's Whole Fruit coconut sorbet tastes at least as good as the coconut ices sold by the vendors with pushcarts -- plus the ingredients list & nutrition facts are printed on the container.
