the start of fall

It's been cool and rainy all week, especially Wednesday. A nice change. I hope this is the start of fall weather and not just a blip. The equinox was last Saturday, and fall is my favorite season. Sunday my parents and I went to a Japanese-themed festival. There were some interesting things to see, but overall it was not as great as I had been hoping. They had bonsai trees and koi fish, aikido and archery demonstrations which I missed, a few swords and other Japanese weapons on display, cloisonne, a little embroidery exhibit, a magician for the kiddies and fake sumo wrestling (you put on a padded suit, complete with hair-helmet), a tea ceremony which I also missed, and plenty of Japanese magazines and books for sale that looked old/used.
The computer security class is okay. It's a little bit interesting; I had no problem listening on Tuesday but my attention did wander sometimes last night. I only have one classmate, a man who works in that school's IT department, and one sorta-classmate, a police officer who is going to teach a week of the class but has yet to pass the exam himself. He works in the high-tech crimes department. The topic and teacher changes from week to week.
I applied to another retail store Wednesday and three more yesterday. I'm trying to pick stores that I like (Zany Brainy, Barnes and Noble, Michaels, a paint-your-own-pottery place) or at least wouldn't mind (Radio Shack, The Container Store). My brother was over yesterday morning. He seemed to be of the opinion that retail work was beneath me because I now have a college degree. Well of course I'd rather work at a desk... but shouldn't I try to cover a lot of bases? I'm not entirely sure what to think, but I'm trying.
