Red Sun, Blue Sun
Dec. 30th, 2003 03:01 pmBeen having a busy several days ever since my family came to visit. The usual triad of parties on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the New Year's Eve one tomorrow, and on this past Saturday and Sunday evenings we visited two of my mother's college friends. I haven't had time to do laundry in a very long time.
When I was a child, I read a book that I'm sure was called "Red Sun, Blue Sun." It was set in a world where all the people had animal alternate shapes: on days when the sun rose red, they were human, and on days when the sun was blue, they were different animals. Except for one girl who had no animal shape. She sat around moping as an ordinary human on blue sun days. To get an animal shape, the girl went on a journey to see a wizard who turned into a hawk, or maybe he was an eagle, and he gave her the shape of a sparrow to use on blue sun days, but only if she could escape from him in animal form. And she did.
Amazon seems to have no record of this book. A Google search yields nothing useful. I'd like to know for sure that this book exists and is still in libraries.
