Memorial Day weekend

serenissimaChris had a couple of friends visiting from out of town, so we tried showing them around the city Friday night and all Saturday. Unfortunately, we spent a fair amount of time walking around unnecessarily, because a particular restaurant where we wanted to take our visitors had closed, and there were a couple of attractions that we reached just after closing time. Lesson learned: call ahead to get hours and directions.
Sunday evening was entirely taken up by a barbecue birthday party for a family friend. The weather was beautiful -- sunny but not too hot. On Monday we got a little caught up with the housework. The weekend was still too short.
I added some more decorations to my fish tank: it now has a pagoda in the center, along with an artificial stone with holes in it and plenty of plastic plants. I'm anxious to add fish, but the filter still isn't ready. I'm doing fishless cycling with a dead shrimp. My ammonia level is 4 parts per million, and I barely have any nitrates or nitrites, so I take that to mean the nitrifying bacteria I need have not yet set up housekeeping.
