sundry thoughts

serenissimaIt's June! By my reckoning, it is now summertime. Never mind that the temperature today didn't reach 70F. The trees have all their foliage and we get lots of daylight hours.

Conversely, age does not automatically bring wisdom. Wisdom has to be worked at.
At the party I was at Sunday, my boyfriend was talking to a sixteen year old boy who didn't know that the shrieking knife-stabby musical effect in movies was first used in "Psycho." At least he was familiar with the concept. I did know where it comes from, but I have never watched "Psycho" and am not inclined to. I also know the "duh-duh duh-duh" threatening sound effect comes from "Jaws" without having seen the movie. But I bet there's a lot of pop cultural references considered to be general knowledge that I am not familiar with, and a lot of older things that younger people have not been exposed to. I guess that's unavoidable.
