fruit and Batman
Jul. 25th, 2005 08:36 pmI spent more than my usual amount yesterday at the farmer's market and came home with a bounty of fruit in addition to the week's supply of vegetables. Over the course of the day, I ate an entire pint box of cherries, less one. Tonight I am enjoying a large peach. The bananas were slightly green, but they're sitting on top of apples, so hopefully they'll be sweet when I get around to tasting them. There's a pint box of strawberries in the fridge, too.
Also yesterday, Chris and I watched "Batman Begins." It was lots of fun. My previous Batman exposure was limited to the animated series, plus about half an episode of the comedic live action show from the 1960s. A few thoughts:
I would have expected someone who spends lots of time around poison gas, like Dr. Crane, to inoculate himself against it as a precaution against mishaps. He was stupid not to.
The actor who plays Dr. Crane is pretty, like a girl -- he has a delicate chin and high cheekbones. [EDIT: his name is Cillian Murphy.]
Gordon was a very sympathetic character. I thought I remembered the commissioner as being a thorn-in-the-hero's-side type, like um.. whatsisname.. the mustachioed editor of the Daily Bugle. Anyway, I must have misremembered.
Katie Holmes has a round nose like a little girl.
Holmes' character apparently forgot to wear a bra when she went to investigate Arkham asylum.
Batman shows an almost James Bond-like disregard for preserving property. However, he is careful of human lives.
Ken Watanabe is a cool actor; I would have liked for his role (Ra's Al-Ghul) to be larger.
I just found out that the star, Christian Bale, was the little boy in "Empire of the Sun," one of my favorite movies.
