Was feeling really lousy over the weekend -- severe chills. Went to the doctor Monday and she prescribed antibiotics. My temperature has since returned to non-worrisome levels. Still have the cough, but the cough syrup DM deals with it fairly well. Returned to work today after being out sick for the past three days. I was pleased to find that I did not have loads of backed up paperwork waiting for me; in fact, it was a pretty slow, low-pressure day at the office.

I had a scary pet-keeping moment a few nights ago.
The weather has turned cold here, with daily highs in the 50s F, but my apartment stays a good deal warmer than the outside just because of the greenhouse effect, so I haven't been turning on the heaters yet. I saw the fish tank temperature was dropping to near 70F, the bottom of the "safe" range, and I twisted the knob on the tank heater a little. That night when my coughing woke me, I took another dose of cough syrup but couldn't get back to sleep immediately. I wandered into the living room and noticed the tank heater's indicator light glowing. I grabbed a flashlight and looked at the thermometer.
It read more than 90F.
Oh CRAP, I thought, turned off the tank heater, and went back to bed feeling awful about having poached alive my five tetras. When I checked again in the morning, though, the thermometer showed a comfortable 78F, and the fish were swimming about and took their breakfast just fine. I must have misread it during the night, without my glasses: the water level is such that the surface crosses the middle of the "safe" range, making the thermometer difficult to read unless I nudge it forward or back.
