resident encounter
Jun. 30th, 2003 02:43 pmI had a pleasant, relaxing weekend. This weekend will be busier because family gatherings are planned on Saturday and Sunday, and Chris and I are trying to figure out someplace to go for Independence Day, to watch fireworks if possible.
Today I was posting a flyer on a bulletin board in the hospital, and a middle-aged man in a wheelchair mumbled something at me that I didn't understand. I ignored him. He started blowing me kisses. I was so indignant, I was tempted to flip him the bird, and had I not been in the capacity of an employee, I think I might have. He wasn't in a unit for demented people, but I wonder if he had a mental problem anyway. There's an old guy who has asked me for change on two occasions, and I gave him some coins. I found it mildly distasteful, but I wasn't mad at him: I don't interpret begging as rudeness.
