serenissima: woman's face with glasses (real life)

I've been having a busy week. A busy month, really, but I have a lot going on during this eight-day stretch in particular.

It started last Saturday with the big bash to celebrate my aunt's mother's 90th birthday. I had a doctor's appointment in the morning, and I was hurrying to pick up a bouquet of flowers for the guest of honor before the party started at noon.

Then Sunday I went to the Graduate School Open House at my school to try to get my registration straightened out. People there couldn't help me, so that was a complete waste of time (although I did gain one stress-relief squeezy toy), but when I checked my email I found a letter from the professor telling me the department would be able to get me accepted if I would just write an email to the dean, explaining why my grades were low in college and why they won't be low anymore, and then see the registrar in person. So, after a low-key dinner out for my cousin, whose birthday is the day after her grandmother's, I was up late composing a cute little note to the effect that I am no longer an irresponsible young college kid, etc.

My letter was satisfactory, and after work on Monday I headed over to the school again to register. That process was quite painless, just a matter of showing the clerk my photo ID. However, obtaining a student ID and a parking permit are still on my to-do list. The hourly paid parking in the garage will get expensive. I was back again on Tuesday for the actual class.

Yesterday I left work an hour early for a dental appointment. It had been almost two years since the last time, but to my relief my teeth are still in fine condition. Tonight I'm volunteering to help at a fundraiser dinner party at work. I expect it to be fun, but it does keep me away from home and downtime.

Friday may or may not be Chris' last day before he heads back to the base, we're not sure yet. If he's around this weekend, I'll bring him with me for the paintball excursion planned for Saturday. It's the same group from work that I went with in June.

All in all, more than the usual activity level for this stick-in-the-mud.
