Hello, 2007! Welcome to now!

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Took a graduate-level class.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember my specific goals for 2006 in so many words, but I have not yet accomplished the big things I'm currently working on, so I have essentially the same goals for 2007.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, each of my two married cousins in the area had a baby!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank God.

5. What countries did you visit?
I remained in my home country this year, but I did visit an Army base, which was almost as big an adventure.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
A better job. More free time, which is related. Income greater enough than my expenditures to let me add to my emergency savings.

7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
No particular date from this year was that significant.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Began taking graduate-level classes.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Did not get a new job.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing major, thank God. I did have a strange bout of vertigo last fall.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Um... gosh... Christmas gifts?

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My love.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Collectively, people at my work.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent, followed by bills.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
If I can dispense with all the "really"s, I'll say the births of my cousins, and the potential for a big move in the coming year.

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
I don't pay attention to what songs come out in what year... but maybe "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Not sure.
ii. thinner or fatter?
Fatter.
iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Job search; arts (writing) & crafts (crochet); exercise (skating & yoga).

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Websurfing/loafing. ;p

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Spent it with my family, immediate & extended.

22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I remained in love.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
I don't watch TV.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
From the very few that I read this year, I think I'll go with Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Again, I didn't make many musical discoveries. I think the only one was Bole 2 Harlem.
EDIT: also discovered Robert Plant, specifically, his song "Shine It All Around."

28. What did you want and get?
Tickets to a particular show. A yoga mat. Finance-tracking software (still have to install it). Money.

29. What did you want and not get?
New music. Dance lessons. Chinese lessons. A new job.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Uh... what came out this year, again? I saw "The Good Shepherd" just a couple days ago. That was good: there was a lot to the story, even though it was at heart a character study. I think the previous movie I saw was "Little Miss Sunshine," which was very funny, but less meaty.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I went out for dinner with my relatives. I am in my twenties.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Establishing a new career.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
As if I have a new "fashion concept" each year. On weekends, I tend toward jeans + tee shirt in warm weather, jeans + sweater in cold weather. For work, I wear slacks or a skirt, a nice top, and a blazer or a sweater. I'd describe my style as "casual, yet not too sloppy."

34. What kept you sane?
My boyfriend and other friends.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
None.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Global warming, I guess.

37. Who did you miss?
My boyfriend and my family.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I think that would have to be the group at work who went on the paintball trips, although I had met some of them before this year.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
You have to keep chugging along even when you don't feel like it, otherwise you stall out.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink." (Beatles)

I am reminded how many of these questions are inappropriate to my life.

Later I may post my goals for 2007, but I've got chores to work on right now.
