back to school season

The public schools in my area started classes last Monday. My college's freshman orientation week starts tomorrow. My brother's classes start this Monday. I helped him dye his hair blue yesterday (only the dye didn't take very well, it looks faded) and we moved him into his dorm room today. All the stores are having back-to-school sales, though with Macy's it's kind of hard to tell -- seems like they have a sale every week.
I almost went to a job seekers' employment network yesterday, but after I got dressed up I checked the announcement and realized it said 7:30 AM, not PM. So I guess I'll go next Friday. There's another similar thing that meets Tuesday evenings; it's farther away, but I'll give it a try.
There is a Mexican restaurant on a busy commercial street near my house which sent us a coupon some years ago. When we went to check it out, we found that it was sandwiched between an "Inserection" store on one side and "Flasher's" on the other. We decided to dine elsewhere that night. I wonder how much business the restaurant loses because of its neighbors, or whether they help it. It has put up a wooden fence along the edges of its parking lot.
