We had a pretty rainshower here yesterday evening, at around 7. It was pouring down on the street all silvery-gray, and at first there was a strong breeze, but it all lasted not much more than twenty minutes. I like watching rain, though I don't often like being in it.

I managed to schedule an interview tomorrow for a receptionist position at a chiropractic office. After that I haven't accomplished much... there is one other classified ad that can be answered with a phone call, but the rest mostly want faxed replies, which means I have to write up a bunch of cover letters.

I meant to go run an errand or two today, but I was stymied by the lack of a working car key. I made the mistake of leaving mine with my brother, who is now living in his college dorm. My father made another copy yesterday, but when I tried it out today it didn't turn on the ignition.

The errand that I meant to do was to get a hundred dollars. When I signed up for my bank account at the end of May, they were having a special promotion whereby if you opened a new account and got both the check card and a credit card to go with it, they would give you $100. So I did that, and received a yellow form to fill out. The bank clerk told me that I couldn't turn it in to him right then, I had to hang onto it -- I am almost sure he said to hold onto it until August. I put it away for a while and forgot where. Now that I've found it again, I see that it says I was supposed to turn it in by June 30. I'm going to try to convince the bank to give me my $100 anyway.

Primary elections were held today, but I chose not to vote because I know nothing about the candidates' policies. What point is there in voting for a person if I don't know whether he's better than his opponents? There have been a lot of television commercials for various candidates, but they don't say anything substantive, and while the Sunday paper listed the candidates and briefly described their background, it did not talk about issues. For the November elections I'll do some research, because I do think it's my duty as a citizen to make an informed decision.
