The security class will be held after all. They felt bad about canceling on the three people enrolled -- especially me, since they've canceled on me before. I'm relieved.

I want to write. I want to draw. I've had some story ideas knocking around in my head for quite some time, but they're just ideas, not a storyline, and I don't know how to make them grow into an actual story. I was listening to Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon story this evening, which was a rerun, and I was envying the way he can create a mood. I wish I could write that well. The story was about a boy discovering his neighbor's hidden cache of old love letters. I want to show the important things in ordinary lives. I want to show the deeply rooted things -- people's dreams, family ties, secrets, handicaps, personal epiphanies. Will it take me decades more of living to learn how to show that?
