Happy Halloween

The job's not bad. I and two other new hires started yesterday, and we've been doing data entry: putting patients and bills into the database. We're working in the owners' basement, which is actually a relatively pleasant setting. They have a springer spaniel who comes to see us every few hours to be petted. The hours pass quickly enough, and between work and class I won't be updating as often as I have been so far. Out of the twelve employees, only two are men. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence. My coworkers whom I've met so far are all quite young, recently out of college, and that isn't a coincidence. One told us that the owners prefer to train people who have not previously been in the health insurance industry so they don't have preexisting bad habits. I also have to wonder if paying us a low, entry-level salary has something to do with it.
