working girl

I started the week busy. After work Monday I went to one last job search talk, and I got home after 8 pm. I had to take a shower at night, which I don't like because I don't really know how to blow-dry my hair. The blow dryer is noisy and hot. The carbon monoxide alarm went crazy that night, too, and sounded its alarm three or four times while I was trying to sleep. Tuesday I voted before work because I had to go directly to class in the evening. And my candidates lost, too. I'm a little tired now. I really like having a reason to get up in the morning, but I miss getting nine hours of sleep a night. I also miss having time to play on the web. I got caught up on the LiveJournals I read during the break at class last night, since I hadn't read them for a week.
I had thought that the "office dog" would be a perk, but she's turning out to be a bit of a pest. She doesn't bark, but she does like to jump up on people, and I get dog hair and sometimes dog slobber on my hands and clothing. On the other hand, all the coworkers I've met so far are nice, and so is my boss, who prefers to be called by her first name. Today I received my first paycheck.
