A few thoughts
Jul. 3rd, 2008 07:49 pmI have a pile of emails from various times this year, most of them a few months old, waiting for replies from me. They are all from people I care about and would like to stay in touch with (otherwise I wouldn't keep them in my inbox), but I haven't felt like sitting down and writing back.
The dirty dishes in the kitchen sink have been there for nearly a week. My going to class has not had a beneficial effect on our housekeeping, nor on our diet.
Walking around in 95 degree weather isn't so bad, as long as it's just for a few minutes in between air conditioned buildings.
Somebody we know has a litter of puppies and is looking to give them away. I showed the email, with accompanying photos, to Chris. He wants one. I'm afraid to adopt a puppy. I don't want to deal with housetraining, or any other kind of training for that matter. We might take our friends' cat, though, later this year.
We will be going to visit my grandmother in a couple of months, barring unforeseen circumstances.
Facebook is suggesting I friend a lot of people with whom I went to school and was on mildly good terms, but wasn't actually friends with. I'm ambivalent about this. My former classmates are cool people and I'd like to get to know them better, but I don't know if Facebook is a good means. See comment above about my email.
I want to see a fireworks show tomorrow. On the other hand, I don't really like the thought of staking out our patch of ground, sweltering in the fading sunlight and waiting for things to start, then getting in the car afterward and squeezing into the line of traffic that's trying to leave the parking lot all at once.
Our washing machine makes a puddle with every wash load. The central chamber was misaligned when we bought it, and apparently our twine-and-duct-tape fix no longer works. It's only a gallon or so; I can tolerate it for now.
