I never did clean my skates from getting soaked with filthy floodwater, but the weather was gorgeous today, more spring-like than summery, so I skated at the park for the first time since the flood. (I love getting the chance to refer to something as "before the flood.") I was not as out of shape as I'd expected -- the hills weren't so bad.
From looking at Google maps yesterday, I found that the park is three times as long as I'd previously known: the part I'm familiar with is two miles long, but it continues north along the river in a very narrow strip for another two miles before widening into a larger area again. So today I explored a mile farther. Some parts were a bit tricky, because I still can't moderate my speed. I crashed a few times in order to stop.
On my way back, I passed through a flock of some three dozen half-grown goslings, watched over by about eight adult geese. I didn't startle them; apparently they thought I was non-threatening. They were right. I stopped in my tracks to admire the fuzzy cuteness.
