It's raining.

This is news. I'm pretty sure this is the first rain we've had in two months. It's been overcast this week, which is unusual in itself, and kind of chilly, in the upper 60sF during the day, 20-30 degrees colder at night. Autumn waited until November to arrive, but it has arrived.

Despite variety being the spice of life, today's precipitation is not making me happy. I want to curl up with a blanket and a cup of something hot, and perhaps a video game. I've been reading Barry Hughart's Bridge of Birds, which is a wonderfully colorful, funny and exciting story; but I do have to put the book down sometimes.

Two weekends ago, I went back to the east coast for four days. The first couple of days were spent at a family celebration which afforded me the chance to better get to know relatives whom I might not even have recognized before this past August, because they live several states away from the rest of my father's side and I almost never saw them. The last day I spent with my best friend, who happens to live just a few miles from said relatives: I had not seen her in about a year, and she was having a birthday party. That was a very good weekend.

Meanwhile, while I was away having a good time, my Significant Other was in the middle of a very stressful two weeks at work. He needed time to recharge and had this past Monday and Tuesday off for Veterans Day, so we more or less lounged at home and played games for most of the weekend, with a couple of brief excursions for shopping/sightseeing.

Oh, look at that -- I think it's stopped raining already.

Nice to know you had a good time while away. If it's cold there, do curl up in a blanket, with something nice to read or watch, and a good cup of cocoa, tea... and maybe even a bowl of popcorn or some nice snack.

It's chilly here, too, and I'm taking the day to finish a good book, myself, while wrapped in blankets in front of the woodstove, with a nice cup of cocoa.

'Put down' Bridge of Birds?!? *looks confused*

;)

Love the book. Eric and I exchange copies when we first met in person.

Now I'm making Chris read it. That didn't take much prodding. :)
