I don't normally watch television, but I had occasion to while I was staying in someone else's house for Christmas. And I was reintroduced to a particularly odious animated TV commercial: for Mucinex, an expectorant or decongestant or some such. The series wherein a giant talking glob of mucus makes a threat, and the drug defeats it. This is even more disgusting than Digger the dermatophyte.

Know what animated commercial I miss? Listerine. Whatever happened to that dashing bottle of mouthwash who punched germs out in the boxing ring, brandished a sword while wearing shining armor, shot arrows in at a bullseye, and swung from vine to vine -- doing flips, even -- in the jungle? I think it's been years since I saw a Listerine commercial of that style. Although the more recent ones with the person staring into the mirror, making faces while trying to swish the mouthwash around for a full 30 seconds, were fun too.

I forgot about the dragon one! I haven't seen a Red Bull commercial.

I loved those Listerine commercials, particularly the one with the "Tarzan Boy" song, by Baltimora being belted out. That was one of the big reasons I really wanted to get into commercial art/graphic design, was to be able to do playful, fun stuff like that.
