Penalties for not paying attention
Jan. 9th, 2009 05:07 pmSometime last year, probably last summer, my replacement credit card arrived in the mail. It was intended to replace the one that expires January 2009. Seeing that it did not need my immediate attention, I set it aside... and it disappeared into the mass of things-to-be-dealt-with-later. I received a follow-up letter from the credit card company, dated September, to the effect that they'd noticed I hadn't activated my new card, and if I had never received it, please call them. Confident that I would find the card as soon as I cleaned up, I ignored the letter.
My main credit card being invalid for over a week now (I do have a backup), today I sorted through the pile of things on my desk. Didn't find the replacement card. What I did find was a gift card from Macy's, containing $52 of credit for having our wedding registry with them and people ordering things for us from it. The gift card expired last November.
I gave up searching and called my credit card company to request a new one. It'll take another week to reach me, and the representative didn't know how to change the middle initial to my maiden name's initial. Feh.
