Interesting name of the day: Amnon, and his son Oron. I'm guessing these are perfectly common names in Amnon's country of origin. Wonder where that is.

In the headlines yesterday, I happened upon this article about an in vitro fertilization mix-up. The last paragraph in particular bothered me:
In October, a London hospital said a labeling mistake led to two women becoming implanted with the wrong embryos. The women, who were undergoing treatment at St George's hospital, had to have the embryos removed.

"Removed"?

The whole article gives me the impression of an attitude that offspring are property, not only in the womb but even after they are born, and when the property goes to an unintended recipient, the courts must decide who is the rightful owner. But that last paragraph is the worst. Whoops, the wrong plants got into the wrong section of the garden, we'll have to weed them out!

And I put all this behind a cut tag because I have the feeling that embryos' rights are an unpopular issue among forward-thinking people. In fact, just this morning my cousin forwarded me an email directing me to a saveroe.com website (which I have not, so far, visited) "to participate in our online rally for choice."

True.
I didn't want you to think I was sidestepping a discussion, it's just that I didn't have much to say in response. :)

What's the significance of that userpic you used?

Neh, that's what I figured. :] It's not a subject that most people feel comfortable talking about much - especially after they've been shouted at a couple of times for being on the "wrong side," whichever side that is. :/

The userpic is my first tattoo, on my back left shoulder. I like it... it's like my signature on my body, kind of. :)
