What I would have liked to see, though, is a clearer link between the civets and SARS. The Chinese authorities may be killing off scapegoats while the actual cause of the new outbreak goes undetected.
it's like the killing of Badgers in the UK because they gave cattle turberculosis. No one bothered to check to see if the badgers got the TB from the cattle.
They found a civet with SARS who lived in a room full of people with SARS (I'm simplifying) and announced they found the vector. In the meantime the true vector is still out there. And SARS is still popping up.
Why the hell would anyone WANT to eat a civet, anyway?
