serenissimaWe're having a cold snap here. Yesterday and today, I wore a wool sweater and wool slacks, and yesterday I was getting zapped what seemed like every five minutes yesterday, as I brushed agains metal furniture. Today it's more like every ten minutes; maybe the air is more humid, I dunno.
Girl Scout cookies now cost $3.50 a box. Wow. For that price, I feel like I should be getting two boxes.
And, my amaryllis is smashed. :( I bought a bulb in November, of the "Apple Blossom" variety: pink and white flowers. I kept it on top of a little bookcase in front of the window. By the weekend, the stalk was around 18 inches tall, with four big, beautiful blossoms at the top, and a fifth bud getting ready to open. I got home Monday night to find that the pot had fallen onto the floor, and the stem was snapped in half. I'm keeping the pot with the 9 inches of bare stem on the bookshelf again: the leaves should continue to grow, and hopefully I'll have flowers again next winter. But it does look odd to have just a green stick poking out of the flower pot.
